Mate, your best bet is to order the rifle from member here Kebco (Ken) in the USA and he will arrange to have it sent direct from France to your dealer in Australia. Ken is the V-C importer into the USA but works very closely with the guys in France. The big benefit of ordering it that way is that Ken will discuss your exact requirements on the phone from the USA. The big benefit of doing it that way is that is that it will cost no more and their is less chance of issues with the language barrier. Ken basically speaks the same language as us!!! (No offence meant to the guys in France either!!!)

Contrary to what someone said above, the V-C costs no more to be custom fitted. Just have your measurements take by a gunsmith in Australia and send them to V-C via Ken.

I have recently received an off-shelf V-C 450NE from Ken and a couple guys from Sydney have ordered some too. Havent had a chance to shoot mine yet though but I am very happy with it in all other respects. IMO the guns are a lot slicker than the Merkel and a nicer finish.

Either send Ken a PM through here or email him directly ken@kebcollc.com

Kebco,

You mentioned that your customer has put 4000 rounds through his V-C double without any problems. What calibre is the gun?

I emailed Merkel a couple of days ago to ask them what they proof their guns to. The response I got was that they tested their guns to 1/3 higher pressure than the standard cartridge for the calibre produces......So in .500 Nitro I'm not sure what that equates to??? About 21 tonnes I'm guessing......I haven't got my calculator so can't do the conversion to Bar or PSI.

Picked up a V-C in 450/400 the other day and was quite impressed to say the least.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your previously posted question. I ordered the V-C from Ken but do know Garry at Safari.

I would give the nod to the VC Azur (actually its a Demas design, VC bought Demas out a few years ago). Very strong action, and well made. You can do all sorts of customizations with the rifle. I've handled several and the level of finishing is very good for the price.

Nothing against Merkel, I've a handled and shot a couple (including ol' Curly's 500!) and they are nice guns for the money. I just think the Azur is a nicer gun. If I was in the market for another double rifle VC/Azur would be on the top of my list.

The current proof pressure for 500 3" nitro express is 3250 Bar, and 3120 Bar for 470 nitro express
