Newland and Tarlton Safaris

Was reading the latest African Sporting Gazette, vol 10 no. 1 issue and in an article by Joe Coogan about the earliest safaris he mentions

"In 1904, Victor Newland and Leslie Tarlton organised Newland and Tarlton (N&T), the first safari company solely dedicated to outfitting hunting safaris in East Africa. These two resourceful Australians had come to Africa as soldiers to fight in South Africa's Boer War before seeking their fortune in Kenya. Recognising the need for a Nairobi based outfitter to provide proper management and logistical support for the safaris in the field, it wasn't long before N&T represented the brightest stars of the safari world. For a number of white hunters, sport hunting was becoming a thriving business in East Africa."



Does anyone know any more on Messrs Newland and Tarlton and the first client safari outfitting business in East Africa? What happened to them?

Chapter 7 of "White Hunters" by Brian Herne gives some info on this outfitter. They guided Teddy Roosevelt. The company was dissolved in 1919 but Safariland Ltd came into being after WWII made up of the men of N&T. Sorry for the short answer, I'm late for work.
