..at my gunmakers. Here today I went to my gunmakers with some projects + he had tolled my he had an surprise..for me..if I wanted it.( bound to die on poverty)

Its a beautiful and the smallest doublerifle I have ever handled. I haven`t a whole lot, but it was the same length as a M94 30-30 carbine...and handled just aswell. The scope is a Leopold, but he also had the original steelscope laying around somewhere. Before anybody asked what make it was..I have simply forgot the name..I`LL have to call upthere again tomorrow to get it...again. The gun is mine( lay-away arrangement). I couldn`t afford right now, as these things always pop-up, when one has just spend the last nickel on some other stuff:LOL The barrel are 23", and the gun weighs approx 6Ibs. We donT know what bulletweight this gun is regulated for, but I could presume it could be 159grainers. The barrels have a flat rip all the way out, with fine file cuttings.

Doublesrifles is indeed a none curable infection. I don`t know how many times I have been willing to sell all my repeters just to get a double...

rigbymauser,
Neat little rifle. When you finally have it in your hands please take lots of pictures and be sure to show us all of the barrel and receiver stamps.

It must be an optical illusion, but the photo showing the muzzles of your rifle makes the bores appear too large for 6.5mm, unless the barrels are unusually thin at the muzzle. What is the actual diameter of your barrels at the muzzle? I would think that they would have to be at least .464" (11.8mm).
Beautiful rifle, by the way! I once had a Westley Richards drop lock in 6.5X53R, but 6.5X57R is much more desirable, especially with the scope.

rigbymauser,
What are your hunting plans with your new rifle?
Perhaps roe, fallow and red deer. Even boar. Would you use it on moose?

Well John...!
As far as plans I do not have any, except to get it as soon as possible( straight forward plan). Other plans will arise later, I am sure. This little double is a truly tiny doublerifle, which would be perfect for the forrest. As stated in upper post, this little double handles like a Win M94 carbine. I absolutly fell in love with it at first glance. A true romance indeed. The funny thing is, my gunmakers who still has the double( for a little time), has also an original Kurz-mauser in 6.5x54mauser, which he didnt wanted to part with under no circumstances . Roedeer and fallowdeer would be an obvious choice..still depends on what bulletweight this gun shoot well with. I have since my first post, studied the 6.5x57R, which is by early( historical) descriptions also called the 6.5Mauser Rimmed, most often came with a 123grain( or there about)bullet doing some approx 853M/sec. This ballistic would not qualify for moose or a fat bacon-bunny. A friend of mine is going to the gunmakers place here soon, and I`LL ask to get pictures along with other guns for size-comparison. This double is really small.

Picked up the dr here after christmas..great little gun. I had a box of RWS shells with me when i went to collect it. The gunmakers have a 50 & 100 indoor-range. The new RWS 6.5x57R did not fit into the chambers at all, and the gunmaker caught a major headache...hahaha..We realized that the rifle was a 7x57R, and luckly we found a full box of new RWS cartridges with 177grain TUG bullets. I fired the dr at 50 meters and both barrels regulated just perfect within 2", which is fine for the forrest. The gun is a Schmidt & Habermann and itis only 97cm long. It weighs 3.2kg with scope. The barrels are 59cm. I have the old steelscope that were originally fitted to the gun, but the Leo VX3 does fine too.

Now you have hit the jackpot. It would have been a great little rifle in 6.5x57 but maybe limited a little if it had actually been regulated for the 123gn bullet but to find it is in 7x57R and will shoot the 177gn tug takes it up to being a all round stunner. You would have to be even more pleased with it now. Are the barrels not marked with the chambering to have had it mistaken for a 6.5x57??

Yes the barrels are marked 6,9mm which is a german "7"..I just didn`t care to look in all excitement way before. Actually the gun is much better in 7x57R shooting the heavy 177grainers.
The story about this gun is..I saw it 6-7 years ago at my gunmaker, but it wasn`t for sale. I was told the there was 10 guys before me waiting in line, but I asked politely to become #11 in line. I was tolled back then the gun WAS a 7x57R. My gunmaker called me last year in Feb to hear if there was still "smoke" in the chimney regarding this gun, and at that time I was finacially "unprepared", but if he was willing to wait until summertime I would know for sure. I called the gunmaker in August to verify that I would take it and asked the gunmaker if he could find some 7x57R to me aswell, while we were at it?. The gunmaker then stated it was a 6,5x57R, and hoped it wouldn`t change my mind..which it did not do at all. In the meantime I bought 100 new RWS 6,5x57R keilspitz in 127grain. I went to see the gun in AUGUST, and NEVER paid any attention to the markings on the barrels..not until Jan2011 where I went to pickup the gun and went to go shoot it, at their range...then it actually WAS a 7x57R::LOL. My gunmaker has been so kind to supply me with 100 new RWS 177 grain TUG ammo in exchange for the 100 "faulty" 6,5s. That offer I took . I bought this gun for approx 4800 USD..

I have just realized that both triggers are also set-triggers.. A gentle push forward is all. The thought of a touch will activate the firing is how it feels like..Its not called hairtriggers for nothing:LOL
