I have a T.T Proctor rifle built on a 1927 Mexican contract intermediate Mauser action.
It has a Shillen barrel, Timney trigger and walnut stock.
I am going to Africa with it and have been told to load a heavier bullet than I normally use.
The suggestion is that I load Nosler partition 140grain bullets.
Calibre is 6.5X57.
Anyone out there have any load data that may work?
This is my first post. I'm a shotgunner really but have hunted elephant in Botswana, rather like the dangerous game thing and I have a definite interest in double rifles.

I have no experience with the 6.5x57, so I can't answer your question. I feel sure someone here will have the info.
In fact, I'll be trying my hand with a 6.5x54 Mannlicher Schoenauer in the coming week. I'm going for the traditional 160 grain RN bullet. I ordered up a box of the Hornadys and a box of the Lapua in that configuration.

I have use a M-S Stutzen on fallow and love the 1903 action - beautiful rifles. I keep finding examples with cracked stocks!
My friend Bill home loads for his of 140 grains but RWS make a load with 159 grain bullets.
Nice rifles.

Hodgdon, I believe has data in his manuals - #24 and #25.
A query to them should turn up data. As the case capacity is virtually identical to the 6.5x55, starting with the Swede's starting laods and going from there is a good beginning. As with any data, always start low and work to pressure signs, up or down.
What works in someone else's rifle will probably not work in yours and could be dangerous as well. Always start with a starting load - never with someone else's 'pet' load.

Hello Smallbore,
if you can use REL 15, REL19 or Kemira N140 I should find a load.
I used 129grs Hornady SST and 120grs Nosler Ballistic Tip with Kemira N140 for roe deer.
Good precision and good result on game...
My rifle was a hunting rifle buildt on the basis of a Mauser 98 system.
