Dorleac Light Rifle on Sako L 57 Action
      #161018 - 26/05/10 09:32 AM

These rifles come with stainless barrels which are blued by Boener in Germany with a proprietary process. This rifle is a 6.5x57.

Happy viewing!

Another very fine rifle. The wood and metal work is very pleasing to the eye. I like the butt trap for the aperture sight. As many will say or think, If I had the money I'd have Dorleac make me one of those.

A fine rifle of very graceful lines, except maybe for the safety. At least the chunky bolt shroud could deflect hot bits if you (heaven forbid!) had a blow up. I like the idea of blued stainless and the trapped peep, hopefully not Sako's.

Very nice...it's good to see timed screws on fine guns...

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for sharing this stunningly beautiful firearm with us Mehulkamdar!

But as a mate of mine suggested, how do they fit a the 6.5 x 57mm long cartridge, into a .308 size action???

I've got an L-57 in 308 Winchester, it fits with a surprising amount of room to spare. I would think a 6.5 x 57mm would fit OK, but it would be a bit tight.

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for the insite into the L 57, 450 Ackley!
I have seen all kinds of L 46's but never an L 57 in the flesh?
Mind you, the custom one above almost makes up for what I've been missing out on.

Hommer,
There are a few L-57's in my part of the world, saw a heavy barrel 243 the other day, complete with a nice set of original open sights on it, odd I thought for what would have been considered a "varmint" rifle. Owner wouldn't part with it however, not from my lack of trying I might add!
I have an L-46 in 222 as well, one striking difference I see is the extractors, the L-46 has the longer thinner type of extractor, but the L-57 has the same extractor as modern day Sako's. L-46's had box mags, while the L-57's have an integral staggered magazine with the release inside the front of the trigger bow. Both have the "Model 70" style triggers.
I also have an old L-61, which is now a 35 whelen and a mint P-54 22 LR. Bit keen on old Sako's I am!

Great looking rifle....but.....

The front sight does look like an add on and not a piece of the barrel. Just being picky to an outstanding firearm.

Cheers,
Mark.
