Vintage 9.5 M-Sch aka .375 Rimless ammo, how old?
      #160907 - 23/05/10 09:31 PM

Here is some old 9.5x57 M1910 Mannlicher-Schoenauer aka .375 Rimless Nitro Express ammo from my collection, top to bottom:
Kynoch box, code 12 I S
cartridges,l-r: Kynoch solid, Kynoch soft nose, base stamp "KYNOCH 9.5mm MS", pre-1940 DWM K soft nose, case # 531
Eley package, code stamp ME M X. Don't know what the cartridges look like because the box is still unopened.

Any idea how old the Eley box may be?

The Eley is quite old, however the Red and Yellow box Kynoch could be from the 1950s

Kuduae

Although it might devalue the full box from a collector point of view, I would be opening to check the condition of the ammo. I had a few unopened boxes of Kynoch 404J (yellow & red boxes) and when I opened them the cartridges all showed early stages of corrosion. They cleaned up fine and had no pitting so I got them in time and they shoot fine. These ones were the later loading with nitro powder so gives you an idea of how old (or young)they were.

eagle27: As I roll my own 9.5x57 ammo with some success, I will keep the unopened Eley box as a collectors item.
