I believe your talking about 3 different guns on this post. Jaz's 470 droplock is all original.

Jaz, to clear up any confusion please have the gun sent here to CA. and I will photograph it for you
I am glad you finally found a nice droplock, and now the waiting begins.

Now you mention it, I did see the Anson ref, Xausa. My German is so bad, though, that I couldn't even detect the brand during my brief look at the site.

Cheers

The Westley which was withdrawn from Holts is a different rifle. That one came with a beautiful crocodile case. This one is in Germany.

Don - hopefully it will be here. It all depends on the paperwork...

I just received the documentation (ledger page and certificate) from WR. The rifle was completed in 1911 for a maharajah in India in 1911, they would not say which one. The rifle has 21" barrels so it was most likely used as a Howdah rifle.(good guess Gatsby)The previous owner says 2" group at 50 yds. Not a bad home defence weapon.....

The one with the crocodile case was probably the former property of the Maharajah of Alwar, who, I believe, was such a devout Hindu that he would not allow himself to come in contact with any product made from a cow, such as leather. I once owned one of his former possessions, complete with crocodile case, and that was the explanation I got from Mr. McElvey, who was the store manager at H&H in those days.
