Recknagel roll-off mounts for Brno ZKK

Just received a set of these from Australian Recknagel distributor Graeme Spraggon and thought I'd share with other Brnophiles on Nitro Express. Also available through NECG in the USA. Not cheap at $A225 posted, but very high quality.

These are very well made, machined from tough Dural to save weight, windage adjustable and handle 1" or 26mm scope tubes. Finish is black anodised, 4 cap head Allen screws per ring will handle major recoil. Recknagel part no 45026-0563. Also available for 30mm tubes 45030-0563.

Unlike many roll-off mounts for the Brno ZKK, these ones will not interfere with the receiver mounted pop-up peep sight (the reason why so many early ZKK's are missing these vital parts!)

Shown here mounting an older steel tube Schmidt and Bender 6x42mm scope on my ZKK600 in .270.
Its a bit hard to see in the photo, but the lower front base is scalloped out to handle a much larger objective lens size. I'd say these would comfortably handle up to 50mm dia.

Nice upmarket piece of kit there mate. Well worth the coin IMO.

Why do you like this type of mount over the Warne style?.Is it the leavers?.

I tried a set of the Warne QD mounts (actually for the CZ550) but discovered the dovetail was cut far too slack and the scope was mounted significantly off centre. Warnes have no windage adjustment and so the scope couldn't be centred properly.

Made from powder coated steel, the Warnes were also pretty heavy.

The other biggest issue is that the QD levers regularly snagged in pack straps, vines and bushes... rapidly became a major PITA

TM. I have three Brno actions with QD Warnes and havn't had any of your problems but the levers can be a pain,I do agree there.I have had two sets of QD Warnes that didn't have the dove tail cut.I sent one set back and the other I got my gunsmith to cut it for me.
I do like recknagel gear though.

Hi Tilleyman,

Glad to see another "PITA" man, not used very much these days but can be very true. As for the Recknagel mounting system I swear by them and have the QD's being fitted to both the CZ550 Custom Rifles that Alex Beer & Ross Waghorn are building for me. May I ask why you prefer these over the Pivot style mounts??

Yes, they were regularly getting snagged ... so I was always checking they hadn't been loosened... distracting!

I'd love to fit the Recknagel swing mount system, but cost and weight were the governing factors.
Does the swing mechanism increase the mount height much?

So have you any photos of them fitted to your CZ550's?

Edited to add:
The other major issue is the swing mount blocks stay on the dovetails and interfere with the operation of the rear pop-up peep.

The rifles are still under construction and yes, it does raise the sight slightly but I can live with that. Once I get them back I will post some photos.
