BRNO 601 magazine spring substitute?

Whilst tinkering with my .308 BRNO and some dummy rounds I managed to break the magazine follower spring (W shaped flat steel spring).

I know my chances of finding one are next to impossible, but I was wondering if anyone used an easier to source spring and modified to work. I had a look at a K98 one and a M96 one and they are to lond sideways (and also a bit weaker).

Also, does anyone know if the current CZ 550 ones can be made to fit?

The standard CZ 550 spring is too long ( the M98 spring works with CZ 550 Standard without modification), but since the ZKK 308 has a shorter action and magazin box the spring that could work is the one that comes in the detachable magazines from the CZ 550 308, this rifles are fitted with a shorter and detachable magazine to acomodate the 308 lenght cardtridges.

Hi Ernesto,
Thanks for your suggestion, you are right.
I called a local gunshop and they said that the spring from the detachable CZ550 308 magazize is what the importer of CZ rifles suggested.
Only problem is they have none in stock and it will take a couple of months to get one.

GK,
Over the years I've replaced broken mag springs in a few different makes of rifle by modifying Ruger M77 springs.
Because Ruger makes a specific .308 length action, maybe one of those might be adaptable to your BRNO.

Here is a clue regarding breaking mag springs.
When ever you need to alter the bends, never try to change the angle of the tight bends in the spring. If you do there is a high chance of breakage.
Always do any bending at the curves in the limbs of the spring and you shouldn't have breakages.
I found this out the hard way many years ago when I broke a mag spring in a 50's BSA .308 featherweight, and of course there was little chance of finding an original replacement.
Some minor alterations to a Ruger 77 short action mag spring had the BSA back in action in no time.

I don't know if one will work in your BRNO but it might be worth checking out.

Hi 4Seventy,
Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the Ruger M77 spring.
I broke the part of the spring that slips into the floorplate. Basically I was trying to separate the spring from the floor plate but I lifted it more than I slid it back.
As you mention, I'll never make that mistake again.
