Most of the forum members know that FATBOY404 has gone to Africa with his Dad & Sister after Buffalo. Yesterday afternoon I received a text message from him and he has secured a very nice 39" specimen. I will leave it up to Neal to fill you all in once he returns.
Cheers,
Jeff Gray

That's good news. I'll be interested to hear how those new Woodleighs went in the .404.

Hi Tophet1,
Yes that will be interesting, I wonder if he will try a "Texas Heart Shot" on a Buffalo, just joking, he always seems to test his projectiles that way as you would have seen by his photos but at the $$$ value of the target I think he will give it a miss, don't you...
Cheers John,

He's emailed a photo of Buff and Rifle to AFRO408 (Gunsmith and author of the .404) who has sent it on to me. If I can work out how to get this bloody Bluetooth technology to work I'd post it. Better to leave it for the successful hunter to divulge though.
Jeff, PM me your mob No and I'll forward it.

Hi Tophet1,
I got it as well and I am still trying to work out the Bluetooh myself but thanks anyway. It is a nice one for certain.
Cheers,

How many times do we want to re visit the wheel ?
Sorry, but surely on NE, AR et al enough has been written to know this without this being one of the first posts of every thread which involves killing animals on Safari ?
I know others may not agree, but IMHO it just gets a bit monotonous when it's the same bullet as before, nothing really new.
However if it was a new bullet, then I could understand that.

Well I haven't visited the wheel. You maybe sick of it but I'm not. For me the Woodleigh Monometals are still relatively new and as I have spoken to Neale and we share a lot of similar views on hunting and rifles I'll look forward to his report.

I haven't visited the wheel either tophet1 and I too am not sick of hearing from other hunters and their exploits especially when some people make such comments without knowing the real story behind this African hunt and to be the first person to have and use the .404 Hydros in Africa "IS A BIG DEAL" Maybe when they get a bit older they will understand what it is to support your father through his ills and give him his final "Wish" to return to Africa before the end.

I understand what you say, no problem there. Wasn't having a go at that.
And yes, the new bullets are interesting. It's just every 2nd post in a thread on hunting is "want to see how they perform" regardless of what it is.
BTW - Quite a few of the new hydros have been used in Africa, I thought they had already been posted here.

The 404 Hydros were manufactured and delivered to FATBOY404 less than a week before he left by Geoff McDonald as Woodleigh never manufactured them in this caliber before. I personally would like to know how a bullet any bullet performs before I go a on the hunt but that's just me.

No, not at all - I must admit I didn't realise that they were the new Hydros, I just saw the word Woodleigh but my point re the 2nd post on a forum after a hunt report is often the same stands.
BTW - I like the bullets a lot - hell, I put them through a bloody expensive Double to test / get some DR recoveries for Geoff and I wouldn't do that for just anyone - well not in my guns but I trust his engineering skills and judgement about what is safe and what isn't !!!

Not really gryphon, 2 of us thought it was a hunting forum and wished FATBO404 well and as he has been communicating with us how he has gone off this forum with pic's. It's not about the pills in any way, I'm happy and to bloody old to carry on further.

I think it's great that fatboy404 and his dad are having some quality time in the dark continent. It will be well remembered by them.
I've printed the pic he sent me, and others, on A4 photo paper ( even though it was only 360x270 pixels it came up well ) and it's now on my gunroom wall for bragging rights. Hehe.
I'm not going to post it here, or anywhere else, and I hope no one else does before the great hunter himself posts his story.
Cheers,
Afro

Well I am interested in hearing how they went, and also enjoying his photos and stories.
Send me the photo files and I will post them if you can't get them up.
