Webley and Scott made a shit load of Actions used in DR's,
often sending them in the white to others to put names on and finish.

The PHV1 and Screw Grip being 2 actions of great fame.

Maybe they made one for a customer with their name on it
for once, as opposed to Rigby, Jeffrey et al.

Is your one a Boxlock, Ejector ?

I have a 375 Flanged Magnum by Webley but
with another name on it.

Sounds like a .375 Flanged Nitro Express. (different cartridge to the .375 flanged Magnum)
The 375 Flanged magnum load was 59 grains for the 270 grain bullet.
The 375 flanged NE is less powerfull than the flanged magnum, but is still a very usefull cartridge.

Yes, a very useful light 375.

2.5 inches long.

I have one caliber 577NE , boxlock, bought in a first time in London by Webley & Scott on march 9 1909 . I take it 2004 across Germany, the rifle was in Nairobi/Kenia. I never heard about DR by Webley & Scott before, and the company is broke since 2005 ! Very difficult to find documents, only old catalogs ! www.armsresearch.co.uk

For those who have never heard about Webley & Scott double rifles actually wearing the Webley & Scott name, I invite you to look at mine, #14079, a dandy little .303 made in 1937:

http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=149258&an=0&page=0#Post149258

Like 500N, I've seen and owned various Webley & Scott DR's that came under other maker's names. All fine rifles.

I can't remember what the bullet weight it for that cartridge
but it is on the light side of bullet weights for the 375 cal.

ie 235 grain.

Farhan,

If your rifle is a 375NE 2 1/2 inch I have a set of new dies and some brass for this caliber. The dies are C&H and the brass is modified 405 Hornady. If you want it I will dig it out and give you a good price on it. The 375NE I bought had been rechambered to 375 Flanged Magnum and ruined the gun. Check yours to be sure this has not been done.

The fact the gun is still in Pakistan means it might not have been butchered by an American gunsmith.

You are lucky you have not seen any pakistani butcher. What they do they throw the rifle bl away and put some cheap shotguns bl and modify the body. They are expert in making any english shotgun hollands and purdery by changing its identy. They just need need any org part to make new fake gun which is not worthy to use.I have seen lot of doubles destryed in this way.Actully ammunation is not available and people do not know the value of the guns of their forefathers and ammo is not available.Lot of double came from afghanistan in war time and mostly converted in shotguns by these butchers. Now it is very difficult to find any good double rifle.
I 37 GOOD DOUBLE RIFLES IN MY COLLECTION.Webly is not rechambered but it,s butt is broken and repaired.I will restock it.I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THIS AS WELL BECUSE THE AREA WHERE THIS WORK CAN BE DONE IS NOW WAR ZONE.

At least on some faked Sniders and Martini's they have replicated the proof stamps and other markings. Clever chaps devious but clever.

its maybe not a gentleman way but when you cant get the real reloading stuff I think you allways get 303 brass or not? the 375 NE 2,5" have the 303 rim/base diameter and is 63mm long, a 303 necked up to 375 will be short with 54mm. there is also a similar wildcat for reborred lee enfield rifles iirc.
brass can also made from 9,3x74R with a lathe but the best is of course the 405 win from hornady. it depends what you can get in your area.

This Webley & Scott has been on offer for quite a while.
Decent looking refinish but I don't know the particulars on it.
Although not very traditional in the British sense, a 405 would be a nice double for North American hunting.
