Just classic.
Interesting bolt handle - is it all steel?
I like how it drops down right next to the trigger and still has a good distance away from the stock for fast bolt cycling.
That is my biggest criticism on my .416 - the head of the bolt handle is way too close to the stock and it is all too easy to slip while cycling fast.
Where did you find this thing?

Wow! The Brits sure do know how to build rifles.

Another set of photos to put into my rifle building notes for future referrence.

A very nice rifle, well done in all areas: Stock configuration, bolt handle, barrel length and contour, rear and front sights.

If time time travel ever materialies, my wish is to travel back to the time this rifle was built and apply for a job as a dustman at Westley Richards, Rigby, or Holland and Holland.

G'Day Fella's,

Thank you to "Mehulkamdar" for posting these images!!!!
You Are The BEST!!!

Thank you also for the kind words but I was just the dealer that arranged the sale of this uncommon firearm, to it's present owner. Let me tell you, I was Very Tempted but could only justify to myself, the purchase of a .404 Jeffery, from the same previous owner as this WR.

This rifle was made by Westley Richards for a Mr L.A. DE Jong of Rhodesia, for the princely sum of 65 Guineas (apparently you could have purchased a Farm in Africa for this amount of money, at the time). According to the grandson of Mr L.A. DE Jong, among other game, the firearm has shot dozens of problem Leopards and thousands of Cape Buffalo as part of the Rinderpest (? spelling) Eradication Program, in Kruger National Park.

The firearm was purchased from the grandson of Mr L.A, DE Jong in 1999 and apparently Mr DE Jong Jr still has the original WR Receipt of Purchase, for this rifle!
The Firearm was fully restored by the one and only, Mr Ross T Waghorn of Melbourne, Australia!
No more really needs to be said!!!

Other than, this WR Best Grade Rifle, handled and pointed like a well built shotgun!
Check out the image that shows the amount of Cast in The Butt Stock.

If you can't live without it, send me an e-mail and I will put you in contact with the gentleman that purchased it, via myself.

Hommer,

I just post the pics. Those who share them are really the best people here.

Good hunting!

That may have been a seriously dear rifle, Hommer. I seem to remember a Jeffery catalogue from 1907 that had db rifles for less. They were the basic ones of course but 42 pounds for a .470 rings a bell.

On second look at the photos, I noticed a nice amount of cast off in the stock.

Bravo!

Neat rifle for sure.

It would look great next to my .303!

Cheers
