"Spare my dogs"

Spare my other dogs, owner pleads
May 26, 2004

THE family of Daniella Donaldson, who was mauled by her pitbull terrier on Saturday, has appealed to Liverpool Council to spare the lives of three of her four pet dogs.

Mrs Donaldson's sister-in-law, Erin Carpenter, last night told The Daily Telegraph that only one dog - the older male - turned on its owner when she tried to stop all four dogs attacking a neighbour's jack russell terrier which had got into her front yard.

"The two dogs that escaped are seven-month-old puppies and they weren't involved in an attack on a human," Mrs Carpenter said.

"The male dog is their father. They're probably petrified and hiding from anyone that comes near them."

Mrs Donaldson accepted that the dog which turned on her should be put down, Mrs Carpenter said.

But she said her sister-in-law was hesitant about the other three dogs. "She wants to see the state of the female dog and find the two pups before she decides anything."

Mrs Carpenter defended the dogs over the vicious attack which killed the jack russell.

"The dogs are territorial and the jack russell got under the fence into their yard," she said.

Mrs Donaldson is in a stable condition in Liverpool Hospital recovering from bites to her arms.

Yesterday, Liverpool Council rangers were within a whisker of catching the two pups who were last seen in bushland at the rear of the Donaldson's property.

Residents have sighted the dogs several times.

Do you think the dogs should not be destroyed?

4 dogs attacking is a pack. The pups have now learnt something ie to attack. I would think that the dogs have not been socialised properly if at all and their owner has not trained them in even basic exercises. Although one shouldn't get in the middle of a dog fight, this advice is reallty for two dogs that are evenally matched. The owner should be able to grab her dog/s at anytime, this says to me that the owner was not the pack leader.

My Ridgeback got hold of a cat that had fell into the back yard. I made him let go and controlled him with just my voice. I could do that as I'm the pack leader. I get pissed off with these low life's that get these dogs because they have a rep of being mean and tough. Then the lock them in the back yard, do no training with them and when they bite a kid or kill a dog, jump up and down saying that the dogs shouldn't be destroyed as they were just being territorial. Give me a fucken break! These dogs attack because the owners turn them into a bombs waiting to go off.

I think kill the dogs, put out a council order that this woman shouldn't have dogs. Most councils won't let a person have more than 3 dogs without permission. This woman had 4 dogs from a dangerous breed

Bakes I agree 100% with your comments.
Those dogs should have been shot imeadiatly instead of that bullshit about the dickhead cops giving covering fire whilst the medic ran for the door.
Good to see you own a ridgeback, great and loyal friends.
Al
