here is one of my latest projects.

A C. lanchaster colonial grade jones underlever hammer double rifle except..... somebody desided that the pesky ridges that spiraled down the barrel were good for nothing and there werent enough 12 gauge shotguns out there

this gun is refinished to a very good standard so the "only" job, is to sleeve a new set of barrels inside the original barrel profile cut and fit a new extractor plate and reregulate it.

i will post more as we progress

i allready ordered the new barrels

this is one of the easy and fun projects, and the lockwork is like nothing i ever seen coming from this age of gun, really nice.
i might bring it to the cougar/black bear thing we were talking about

Nice!

Get some images up of the lockwork.
Do they have additional tumblers-on-the-tumblers?
My Purdey and the WR have such 'intercepting safety' arrangements on the tumblers.
I'd posted a link to a 4-bore rifle the other day that also features that kind of safety feature.

Are you referring to the little object swivelling on the tumbler? This is called a "Fly" and not a novel invention of the British gunmakers. My 1870 .500 BPE Rigby has tumblers with flies too. The fly is well known since flintlock times, being necessary for the functioning of any set-triggered lock. A fly keeps the unsupported sear from crashing into the half-cock notch when the hammer is on it's way down. A set-triggered rifle lock will not work without a fly! On locks without set triggers it allows a deeper half-cock or safety notch without risking a misfire in case the finger slips off the trigger.

Thanks for the vernacular -- fly -- I won't make that mistake again now.

The Purdey I speak of has set-triggers for both barrels, the WR I speak of is a relatively heavy-charge rifle.
The point looks like it'd be appropriate for each rifle - also the 4-bore noted above.
