Anyone shooting a 416 Lothar Walther Barrel?
      #149105 - 30/12/09 07:40 PM

I'm building myself a 416 Taylor as soon as I can get my hands on a barrel, not an easy task in Australia these days.
Has anyone got or had experience with Lothar Walther barrels in 416 cal? How do they shoot, what's the finish like etc.
I seem to remember hearing years ago over here that they were not much good, but people I have spoken to lately seem to think they are better than what they were about 5-10 years ago.
Any comments?

DC

I won't buy anything else now.

I don't have a .416 barrel but I have them on my 9.3x62, 7x57 and I have just ordered one for the young blokes (TYB) .243W. I have had mixed results with MAB (now TSE and a totally different operation,)TSE and Tobler.

They are highly polished and ready to shoot once installed. I have used C/M pre-threaded, chambered and crowned barrels for Mauser 98's.

I consider them excellent value for money.

I have one in a 9.3 I am shooting at the moment & it was good to break in and cleans up quiet well . I am fitting one to my 404 as well . I would recomend them to anyone .

G'Day Fella's,

.458 Ackley, one of or the only OZ supplier for Lothar Walther barrels is, Graeme Spraggon.
His contact details are;

Mob 0427 319 589
E-mail graemesp@bigpond.com

I just purchased a new L/Walther barrel in .404 Jeffery (404 Rimless).
It came to me Long chambered and threaded (M98) and 25 1/2" long.
Fit and finish is excellent but the bore hole in this barrel is something else!
It's Stunningly Straight!!!

I had a 9.3X64 built about 18 years ago using a Walther barrel. No complaints or regrets; shoots accurately and cleans easily.
