Got the wood for my custom 458 Lott stock
      #14708 - 13/05/04 07:00 PM

I finaly picked the wood for my .458 Lott project. It is 10 years old, good colour and grain structure in the wrist and mag box area ,nice and hard. Can someone tell me the easy way to post pics as the project progresses.(keep it simple ,typing is my limit).

I think the preferred way to post pictures is to upload the photos on an image hosting site. I've used www.hunt101.com in the past (it's free).

After you have the image uploaded on the host site, you make a post here and include the following, replacing the paranthesis with () with brackets [] in the following example.
(img)http://webaddress of the image on the host site.jpg(/img)

The easiest way to get the information of the web address is to open the image on the host site, right click on the image and go to properties, this will display the address. Just highlight it with your mouse, right click, select copy, then come to your post here and between right click and select paste.

It's a lot easier to do than what it sounds like.

If you would like, you can click on my profile and email me the picture. I'll post it for you.

Replacing the ( ) with square brackets [ ]

img was on the older versions of infopop.

Its walnut grown in Australia , but has Oregon written on it ,so maybe that is the strain? I got it from Gabe Gatti ,a gunmaker in Australia. He doesnt sell wood ,only that which is being used in a gun he custom builds. His better blanks ,he only lets go in better quality custom guns.

The top picture's url address is http://www.hunt101.com/img/154814.jpg
I found that by clicking on the picture, then right click and go to properties. Then all you have to do is put the following
(image)http://www.hunt101.com/img/154814.jpg(/image)
except use [] where there are ().

The wood cost me $2000 Ozzie dollars or about $1300 US. I have seen a few other pieces which were prettier and cheaper but ,not as hard or strong in the wrist, magazine area due to slight imperfections in grain structure.

Is that the going price for a peice of stock wood that size?

How old is that wood?

How do they cure the wood?

Thanks
Larry A.

P.S. Hello all, just wanted to say hi in my first post. It looks as if you all here are just as knowledgable as those on AR, I hope to learn as much from you as I have from them.
