A Buck for the Holland
      #146452 - 23/11/09 01:11 PM

He is not my best buck, or even close in the horn department, but what a great hunt. I shot him with my Holland .30 super after a long stalk in very open country while he was bedded at just about 100 yards. A well placed shot at the base of his neck closed the deal. Hunting with and old single shot sure adds to the fun. The gun is the only know single shot in that caliber and was built for the Duke of Cranbrooke. I think the Duke would approve.

Hi Bouldersmith,

Contary to some belief, size does not matter, the quality of the hunt and the way the hunt was performed should be the sign of a true hunter and to perform such a task to perfection with a "True" English Classic makes it even more desirable.

Cheers from Australia

Great stuff Steve. Very nice buck and super nice H&H. We should all hunt in this style! If only we could.
Thanks for this post. The rifle is a grand.

Boy I love those old single shots.
I never see any for sale ? Where are they all ??
I've never shot one personally but they sure look balanced and compact.
I'm certain the duke would approve !!

What a nice buck And a fabulous rifle. Can you post some close ups of the rifle please, including the front and rear sights? Love the stock.
Does the case have the load written in it?
Best wishes, Chris

Bouldersmith...

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I love everything about that hunt.

Is the .30 Super the same as the .300 H&H before it was renamed the .300 H&H??

There's always a warm spot in my heart and an empty peg in my gun closet for a beautiful single shot.

Awesome! So nice to see a real hunting rifle - & with no scope to spoil it's lines.
