Now I am looking for pointers. I have never gone after these beasts before. I am certain my archery set up will be effective.

Where did you draw a tag Ann? Where ever it is CONGRATS!! I have never hunted moose before, but any set up that can take big deer & elk would work without any problems. Hopefully you bag a nice one and post some pics for us! Good luck

Congratulations.
My arm-chair experience. Don't shoot it in the water!
Good luck and can't wait to hear about it.

Will be in New Brunswick, pretty budget priced compared to western moose hunts. They only have a three day season! Hopefully I can hunt bear while there too.
Yeah John, bad news if these boys go for a swim after you shoot them. Makes for a long day.

A mate shot several moose once in the river/swamp. Had to grin and bear it when skinning and chopping them up.

Well the outfitters are sending prices in to me. Looks like the average will be $1300 for 6 days of hunting, 3 days on moose and three on black bear. Only other cost is travel and my moose tag. The outfitters supply the bear tag. Not a bad deal so far. Now I just must decide who has the best opportunity at a mature bull in their area.

OK, pointers for an upcomming Moose hunt.
1. Find a place where moose live and go there. 2. Know your prey,(they are a big leggy brown animal with a big nose and bloody great antlers) 3. If you see a big brown animal with a big nose, claws and no antlers, don't shoot....thats a Grizzly bear. 4. Place your arrow in its vitals, you'll know when you have not done this when you find a big leggy brown animal with a big nose and bloody great antlers comming straight at you with a pissed off expression. 5. Approached the downed animal with caution....least you trip on something and turn an ankle.
I hope that helps Ann, good luck on the hunt. Don't forget lots of pictures.
