Nice gun. That Manton 470 looks to be a solid rifle - estimate is probably high though while the estimate for the Rigby is probably low.
Double rifles at the auctions seem to be pretty soft right now overall. James Julia auctions had some which looked quite reasonable last time around. Most of the double rifles didn't hit their reserves.

The Rigby has a partial wood rib and is a extractor, these were known as woodies in the trade, some pay a premium for a nice specimen. They are quite rare. Though just because something is considered rare and hardly ever seen, doesn't mean that's a good thing for resale. I imagine this one will go for decent cake..

With Early 303's, the bores need to be checked IMHO.

Hope fully the gun would have been looked after
by the owners at the level of it's value.

Well, I was the last fool standing. This is however, a lovely rifle.

The photos in the catalog did not do justice to the amount of CC present, they make them look washed out. I see no evidence of any cordite burn in the throats with my 3.5X readers, and the bores look new. The rifle points and balances very well for me, although a tad short at 13 3/4 " lop; but just fine for cold weather hunting.

Just returned from the range; and am very pleased. Shooting factory Remmington 180 grainers at 50 yards, the first pair from clean barrels were centered in the bull about 1 1/2" high and 1 1/2 " apart. Second pair had right bbl touching top of 3/4" center dot, and left an inch to the left of the right. Third pair showed right slightly to the left of but touching the second right. I know I pulled the left a bit, and it is 1 1/4 right and slightly below the right bbl group. I'm saving my remaining 5 rounds for a foray after the wary whitetail tomorrow. I think this one is "good to go".

All the best, SXS
