A pretty decent Mauser Type B Oberndorf sporter in 8x57 is being offered on Guns International at a very attractive price. If anyone has an interest, it's worth a look.

seen it it looks clean and original,,it just kills me that the days of finding them from 500-1200 in nice shape are over no matter what the economy is like....paul

I know they're not Oberndorf's, but Allan's Armory got some new Huskies in...might be worth a look(?)...

Nice looking rifles and great value. I haven't handled a Husky but Ludwig Olson speaks well of them in "Mauser Bolt Rifles" if I'm not mistaken.

Don,

Nice looking Type B for sure, and reasonably priced.

On another matter, do you remember the 2 .404 Type A's offered by George Caswell - you mentioned earlier that both had been sold the same day. For some reason they both continue to show up on his website, although a 8x60 Type B that had been there earlier is gone. (I think you may have acquired that one? Any idea if those .404s are still available.

many thanks

I noticed that the 404's are still listed but don't know why. I called George when the ads first appeared to purchase the 8x60 (which I did) and one of the 404's, but he informed me that both 404's had been sold to the same person. I emailed him a week ago to inquire about the continued listing but have received no reply. If you find any info, please post.

I also sent George an email but have not had a reply.

I notice that a new dealer in Dallas has recently listed 3 very nice Type As - one is a double sq bridge in 9.3 x 62. You can find them on gunsinternational under prewar Mauser sporters. The dealer's name is Willoughby McCabe. I know the owner. He is reputable and definitely knows high end sporting rifles well.

That DSB is a real peach, isn't it?
I have spoken to Patrick Willoughby and he seems a straight shooter - nice guy and a reasonable businessman.
Unfortunately, the rifle I was going after was already sold...SOML

yeah, gorgeous and very reasonably priced. It can't last long.

Patrick handled an import for me a few years ago when he was with Jackson Arms (also in Dallas). He was planning the new store (Willoughby McCabe) at that time. Now that the store is here, it sure doesn't disappoint.
