Does anyone have any first hand usage of Famars double rifles? Also, how is there quality compared to other makers?

Beretta's 455 series sidelock guns are built for them in the white by Famars and only finished in house by Beretta. With the differentiated Famars and Abbiatico and Salvinelli operations within the same company, they make guns for other brands as well.

Retreever on A/R has a FAMARS built D/R, it's one

of a good number that was commissioned in the

1970's by www.champlinarms.com in 450 #2 caliber.

He likes it a lot, but he did have a rust issue de-

velop on the bbls [between the ribs if I recall]. It

has been corrected now I think.

I have a Farmars Abbiatico & Salvinelli SxS, sidelock double rifle in 375H&H. The rifle is very nice and fit and finish are top of the line. Barrels on this rifle are 24" and weight is 8 1/4lbs, iirc.

Haven't shot it much yet because it is being fitted for me, a lefty, and having scope mounts installed.

Not a double rifle, but back in 1988 I bought a Farmars - Abbiatico & Salvinelli - side by side shotgun, a "Tribute" model. Everything about it, workmanship, fit, finish, engraving, balance, weight distribution etc was superb. It was a lovely gun to use and I did some fine shooting with it. It was a single trigger, detachable boxlock ejector gun, covered in fine rose and scroll engraving. In the years I owned it, I put nearly 10,000 shells through it and the action was as tight when I sold it as it was the day I bought it.

It was truly a magnificent gun, I wish I still had it.

I would love to have a double rifle by Abbiatico & Salvinelli. I see no reason to expect anything but the best quality, fully equal to or better than that of my shotgun.
