Does anybody here have a picture of an original Jeffery Farquharson front sight blade on a 450/400?
Specifically, I need to know if the brass bead is completely recessed into the steel bead or if it protrudes.
Thanks

Have you tried looking in one of the books written
on the Single shots by the Australian guy ?

Plenty of original photos in there.

(I can't remember his name ATM).

His name is Wal Winfer.

Don't insult Mexicans - I understand they make superlative double rifles and phone-company executives

I looked at my Winfer Jeff. & Trade Farq. book and the best front sight pictures it has is of the hinged hood type and a full rib barrel type.
The hinged hood picture (p.80) looks like the brass bead protrudes but with the picture quality it is hard to tell if it is brass at all - could be all steel.
The ribbed barrel sight (p.81) looks like it is missing the bead altogether.
I was hoping someone here has an original Jeff to check.

You could try giving Kirby at Vintage Doubles a call. I know he has a Jeffery Farq in that caliber. The only trouble is I think it is still out getting a new forend put on it.

Just checked my three, .....all protrude about 1/32", just barely, but they do protrude.

Arctic, thanks!
They are brass? Correct?
If you remember, is the bead flat sided(cylindrical)a bit, or rounded out right to the steel?
