i have a Mauser action timney trigger and a safety set up so i could scope.what i plan when i can id barrel it to 458 now do i need to cross bolt it if i put it in a wood or glass stock or would bedding it suffice.i have a 375 in a fiber glass stock shoots well and is not cross bolted and nearly 1000 rounds through it it is bedded well.the 375 is a Remington 700.i also have a 270 in a sako action in a McMillan stock the action was worked by magnum research would that be a 458 candidate and it would already have a good stock.i guess it would need the barrel Chanel let out some and mercury reducers put in due to the weight.any thoughts from you would be nice.cant seem to touch one under a 1000 so why not build one no scope just fiber optics.

Yes, I would put a cross bolt in it.

If I were building a .458 nowadays, regardless of the nature of the action, I would seriously consider a sleeve type rear sight base with an integral recoil lug and two cross bolts. I might add that I wear a belt and suspenders.

You won't regret going with a couple of cross bolts and a barrel lug.
