Went out last night to a mates place, 1600 acres of hilly sheep farm, for some spotlighting. Last week he had reluctantly put out some 1080 baits( 'cause of sheep losses and he doesn't like poisons ) and I wasn't too confident of seeing many dogs but you never let a chance go by, hey.

We hadn't even got to his back block when two foxes were spotted up on the hill side to our left, they were in the neighbours place but it was ok to shoot them so I did, shoot one that is. The other one was on the crest of the hill and dissapeared quick smart. I couldn't get up to take a pic 'cause there was no gate and I was definitly not climbing through the electric Bull fence been there done that.
Shot this first one with a modified 80g Winchester SP ( pic below )
I machined the soft tip off and gave them a flat nose so the rounds would feed easily.

We got another one on the way out of the block and I also shot it with the same type of bullet.
This one we could get to, so I took a photo of it. The modified FP bullet hit the fox in the chest ( it was sitting facing us at about 90 yds )and had gone right through the fox from front to back leaving a 25mm exit hole. I know that the 75g Speer HP's don't exit with the same shot placement. It appears that the FP projectile had expanded some but held together as well. I think these bullets would be good on Fallow and Pigs.

We got another fox on the way home near the absent neighbours house ( no pic 'cause it was on the other side of that dreaded fence again )
I camped, for the rest of the night, on another part of the property, so I could get in an early morning hunt before going back to work. I was up in the bush before sunup and tried the e-caller a few times before getting the 4th fox in a gully. This one I shot with the 75g HP SPEER and there was no exit wound.

Cheers
Afro
