HI, I'm pretty new to singles and the Ruger no 1 has taken my fancy as a suitable action for alot of buildups. My question though is do they all have the same action or is it scaled up as the caridges get bigger?
Thanks,

Ruger has only made the one size in a number 1.
Hope that helps. Michael J

One size only, fits all from 17 Ackley Hornet through to 577NE though.
Great action.

Thanks very much for that I've been given one and would like to have a play with it. The action has a 308 bolt face is the any potential pitfalls from going up in size on one of these actions.

None at all, just get the correct extractor for, or alter the exixsting one to suit the shell you choose. If you go up to or beyond the 470NE in size you will possibly have to do a little work to allow the shell rim to slip past the action shoulders and into the chamber. Other than that, pretty simple really.

You're right-on, Alex, My buddy bought a PacNor 3 groove barrel, in .172 cal. & I chambered it by hand, then put it on his .375H&H #1. It took several orders to get the right extractor as the supply company is in Quebec- something was lost in the translation and they had a diffuclt time sending a Hornet Extractor for a serial # that was for a .375. The rifle shows no stringing or double grouping, and as per PacNor's norm shoots tiny 5 shot groups in the 3/8" range and busts gophers to almost 500 yards - acid test just last month. Brad's happy with his #1 and now wants to re-barrel his Martini .17Ah to a PacNor. Mine is on order right now and is expected any day now.

Daryl,
Could you tell me the name of the supply company in Quebec?
