Alex Beer at the Melb SHOT Show
      #136661 - 04/06/09 02:29 AM

Some photos of the Alex Beer stand at the 2009 SSAA SHOT Show in Melbourne in May. Same photos as on the other post, but maybe some of our double rifle enthusiasts will see them here instead.

Alex Beer & Co., custom double rifle, rifle and pistol maker of Tasmania, Australia.
Alex is looking suave ( ) in his two piece suit as the proper Taswegian Double Rifle
maker of note. Missing is the bowler hat. Only joking!

Alex with an interested visitor. In the foreground two of Alex's personal rifles,
a .375 H&H "Alex Beer" Mauser 98 and a Alex Beer double rifle in 9.3x74R.

Beautiful work, Alex - pleased to make your aquaintance - but one-sided, though, on my side.

It was good to meet you there, Alex. By the way, I managed to bag a wee staggie (spiker, actually) with my double on Wednesday. A Texas heart shot at about 35 yards took out an inside fillet, bits of spine and stopped him in his tracks. My response was more like shooting ducks along a river than trying to follow the deer thru a scope as previously done. Mid-day sambar hunters could do worse than consider a .400 with express sights, I think.

Cheers
- Paul

Thank you for your kind words gentlemen.

I sometimes feel a bit awkward on show like that, usually I’d much rather be in the workshop, smoke fitting in a set of barrels or some-such. But I did enjoy this Expo immensely, and the amount of positive comments and feedback was staggering. Thank you to all concerned. Got to meet some of Australia’s more noted stock makers and gunsmiths which was nice. Caught up with some old friends and acquaintances and made a number of new ones.

Thanks NitroX for posting the pictures, good to catch up with you again. I need to make a slight correction though, the 375 H&H was not mine; it is a customer’s un-finished project that he graciously allowed me to display.

Good to meet you there too Paul

Daryl S and Ronvella, if you gentlemen are ever over on this side of the pond, please drop us a line. Would be happy to entertain a visit.

All the best

Alex

Alex,

Whenever you have time, would you please post some close ups of the rifles in the pictures?

Thanks, and beautiful guns!
