It looks nice, but I would never buy a double or any other gun in that price category at egun without thorough inspection and a visit to the shooting range. Besides, I think the price is a little bit too high.

I'd prefer it if you also took the time to do a Translation
as opposed to just putting up the photos.

It only takes 3 - 4 minutes and gives alot more info than
just pretty pictures - which look good but can easily cover things up IMHO.

Anyway, gun looks nice.

Sory - will give it a try:

roughly it says that it was built in 20's for Oakes & Son Limited - restored in England - barrels are very good - stock length 14.6", overall length 40.55", weight 10.3 lbs.

They are asking ~ 19K USD or 25.7K AUD.

Use an on line translator and do the whole lot in one go.

Sorry if my post came across a bit strong !

That's a good price! Very difficult to get a old british double cheaper today! I think accuracy is not the problem if you can get the right ammunition caliber .475 !

Online translators do not do a good job when speaking gun lingo.

Yes, but it's still better than nothing,

This isn't bad - from Google Translate which I think is one of the worst translators.

93mouse

it looks like a fine gun but the price is a lot higher, than what they go for in england at the auctions.

expect 6-8.000 £ in london at auctions, the hard to get calibers brings in less, that looks in good condition from the pictures but in a off caliber like that would bring around 6.500£

hope this helps as i dont want to rain on anybody's parade, but as i see it they are trying to get american prices in europe, which is not the way it usually plays out.

best regards

peter

Looks to be a neat gun, however it's a tough buy given the demographics of it's location.

I agree with Peter, it seems a bit high price wise.

Thanks Peter - the info I was looking for - where the Hollis fits in a price range - I am not going to break my neck buying a double - I am looking at it as "once in a lifetime" ...however if a good deal appears... and 475 No2 (or 450 No2) has a soft place somewhere in me - IMO it can't be more British than that - with ammo Kynoch is still on - BTW is there any difference between .475 No2 Elley and .475 No2 Jeffery?
