Just picked up my new 243 today, it's a sweetie!! Has a heavy barrel and a laminated stock.
Once I got it home, I installed the 6x24x42 scope and a sling. Tomorrow it's off to the range to start breaking in the barrel.

sounds like you have true critter gun now we are going to have to go varmit hunting.You should find out what grain ammo the gun likes first

long time no speak to you.You make me jelous.The best place to test your new toy is to come and shoot blesbuck here in South-Africa.Give me a call.
My favourite in my .243Bruno STD is PMP 90gr Softnoses.They are extremely accurate and good on varminting.Just not constructed well enough for antelope.For all my general hunting of blesbuck,impala,warthog,kudu etc I use 100gr Federals or 100gr Hornady bullets.

have shot a couple hundred hogs with my 243 BLR great rifle.if anyone wants a tough projectile and doesnt want to pay for barnes or partitions , speer 105's are great . thats what i have used on thar and red deer. way too hard for all but the biggest toughest boars. same price as any conventional softpoint.......pete

I have retired my 243 ruger for ground hogs and foxes and if the hunting gods are with me coyotes this oct in KS.I have had bad voodoo with white tail and the 243.I know hunt them with the 4570 or my bow ...last year all I did was with bow...till the rotator gave out
