E-clip, a critical issue
      #133388 - 24/04/09 11:03 PM

Last week, once again I broke a limb of my Bowtech bow.
I have still broken a limb on my 90# Allegiance, and 3 months ago a upper limb of my 100# Bowtech Tribute.
It was no fun as Bowtech or Elite didn't make 100# limbs any more.
Fortunately, Dave Barnsdale is taylor making limbs.

I ordered 2 pairs that were delivered very quickly.
After using a pair during 2 months, a lower limb broke. The cam rocketed into my arm and rebounded on my wrist. That's hurts. I was really pissed. The axle of the cam had ripped off the tips of the limb.Wanting to rig my extra pair, I noted that a E-clip was lacking. I hoovered my underbasement where I am shooting and could find this damn E-clip.
I PMed Dave Barnsdale. He was really puzzled, having never encountered such a problem. None the less he is building a new pair.
The best explanation is that the E-clip had uncoupled. Then the axle has also pulled out, applying tension on one tip and resulting in ripping off the tips.

I recommend You to check the axles' E-clips and when hunting , bringing a spare E-clip.

Back when I bowhunted Elk I lost an e-clip. No damage done, but when I returned to town I obtained spares, put some in the box of hunting gear that stays in the truck and taped a couple to the bow riser for spares in the field.

So, yes, check those E-clips, especially if you do a lot of practice shooting.
