Just going though all the stuff I picked up from the last outdoors show I went to.
How is Zambia for buffalo and one or two plains game?
Anyone have any experience with Peter Bird and Bella Bella Safaris in Zambia?
Thanks!

Have a look at www.safaribwana.com they appear to have some decent Buff/plainsgame specials in the Luangwa Valley. I think Bala Bala do ranch hunts for Buff, which takes the shine off it somewhat. M.

Thank for all your replies!
Its good to have this forum to get information. After about ten booths at an outdoor show I get too tired to be a good judge of operations, so its nice to get some other feedback.

Chasseur.. Yes Balla Balla is a ranch hunt.. Whatever you do, don't hunt the Kosonso area. I hunted there in 98/99 season. The poaching presure is horrendous from the locals.. Except for Puku, plainsgame species are almost nil.. I shot 4 Buff bull's (mine,my buddie's, one wounded by poachers and one for tribal camp meat)All 4 had .30 cal bullets in them.. The buff won't come out of the park and into the hunt concession untill presured by the lions (great place for the big cats!) thats how bad the presure is on them.. Just MHO.. But on the other hand, I was fortunate to take a 44" buff, so I guess it aint all bad.....450

Some folks hear the word RANCH and pannic! One must keep things in perspective here. RANCH simply means private property! The Buffalo on the Bird ranch are no different from the buffalo anyplace in Zambia, and you will earn your trophy there. Additionally, you will not find any "HEALTHY" poachers on the Bird ranch. I have not hunted the Kosonso area, but it certainly is not indicative of the rest of Zambia, if it is full of poachers.
I agree with Ray, what ever Peter Bird tells, you can take to the bank, and his Brother, and nephew, are stand up guys as well!
