      #132021 - 11/04/09 05:27 AM

Folks,
Considering this rifle and would appreciate your input.
Geyger 9.3x74R
mfg'd 6/1925
non-ejector
double set triggers
metric equivalent to 24.25" bbls
excellent bores, excellent unrestored condition
original bases/claw mounts and included Kollmorgen 2.75x scope
3 cartridge bullet trap in butt
Regulated for 286gr steel jacketed bullets
8.75 lbs unscoped/scope weight adds 12oz
Per owner:6 shot groups average 3" at 100 yards (IMR 4064 57.3gr, 286gr @ avg 2300fps)with included targets backing this up
Would be curious to hear opinions including fair market value.
Thanks,
Bill

misread the notes- 8lbs even unscoped, 8.75 with
Wouldn't mind hearing what you all think is a fair price on this; not too many comps that I can find.
Thanks,
Bill

Geyger did excellent work.
I see the floor plate's been off and back on - who knows why or by whom, but it looks like a Swiss Army Knife was involved in the process judging by the screw slots.
I'd bet a Pilsner that the mechanics are fine anyway...
Budget a trip to a proper double rifle mechanic for a strip/clean and make sure that the trigger plate group gets good attention.
Don't try both of those set-triggers at the same with both chambers lit unless you're *really bored* that day.

I bet it handles and points nicely.
I wouldn't kick it out of my rack.

'Fair market' on something like this ain't what it was two years ago - but the maker's known and the caliber is popular.
My seat o'the pants number is in the five to seven grand neighborhood.
You're going to see rifles on the web with higher asking numbers, but look back a ways and you'll see they've been lingering with those numbers for a while.
Stroll through completed auctions on Gunbroker and Auction Arms.
That might give you a better sense of what the market's giving for nice European gear like what you've presented here.

If you can swing a deal on it you'll likely be happy with the rifle.
Good success to you, let us know how it shakes down in the end.

Cheers
Tinker

Hi Bill,
nice piece, your correct not many comps.Looks like original case color,if barrels are as good as you say,and that the most important factor, all else can be fixed with money. I agree with Tinker although the DG market has taken a back seat to the black rifle accumulation and most likely more buyer friendly,5-7k seems reasonable.Only detraction I can see, besides that floor plate screw is the loss of the horn buttplate, they cut that stock as close as they could. The lever might be a bit left of center but that could just be picture-with those side clips doubt it would get way off face.Still real nice gun,set screws, horn inlay gold safety and trigger guard intact along with claw mounts are all nice touches.
I have seen a few Geyger offered over the years all well done, one seller told me there was rumored connection to Goring investing in the company, who knows but they sure did make top shelf guns

Let us know if you get it,I would bid on it if I saw it at auction.
best,
Dave
