Hi guys this is my new project model 98 got it for fifty bucks the guy I got it from said it is 8mm that is what he has been shooting out of it I have the barrel soaking in oil it is a mess alot of rust .I have been working on the stock I used some murphys oil soap on it Iwas shocked how it cleaned up never used that before. hi guys I put some more pic of this gun on the same site here are a few of them

it is going to be a brush gun wont be hard to fix any scratchs I put one coat of clear poly and about 20 coats of butchers wax not a bad 50 dollor gun it looks nice and clean now not a rust bucket any more

Put a few rounds throught that old barrel once it's cleaned up and see how she shoots. If no luck, a quick rebarrel and you have an even better rifle than it is now. What a buy.

barrel is fine last time shot 2 weeks ago the guy took care of in side did not touch out side.he has shot a lot of deer with it .I would have been embrassed to be seen with it the way it looked now I would not mind.if your going to buy something you should take care of it.now it is in the cab,next to the jeffery's and looks good

Did a fine job Bill, gave the old gal some class,hate to see anything rusted up like that.

The stock looks like a sporter from the long gone Herter's of Minnesota, I have the exact same one on a refinished Vz-24. The Fleur-de-lis on the grip cap was one of Herter's marks.

I do not know where the stock came from there are no markings anywhere on it .the guy I got it from has no idea eather I donot know if I will ever find out where it came from
