I'm not aware about O/U being more dificult to regulate than S/S or vice-versa. The former's barrels do indeed recoil in a vertical plan, while a S/S does just the same, albeit horizontally. I've fired both but wasn't aware of any difference and I believe that if there is some it must be masked by recoil anyway.

In my humble opinion the best bang for the buck in the market anywhere is the Merkel 323E. They go begging; way underpriced for what they are. They truly are best quality.

I just took mine out this afternoon to have a look at it. Very underappreciated. They sell for pennies on the dollar.

OK, just snapped another shot. This time you get a good view of the very evil O/U barrels looking straight at the camera!

Oh, I failed to mention just how evil this rifle is. It's an evil, blatantly communist product of GDR!

Hoser-

Here is my advice to you.

First buy one double rifle.
Then, buy the rest of them.

It is inevitable.
Take the first step...

Yeah, I will. Just asking and participating to increase my "rookie" status on the board! I'm kind of an info junkie once I get interested in something!

I bet that you've been told before that you're over thinking things... Right?

If you're looking for your first one get a decent brand that's been around for a while.. If it feels good and is a good caliber, get you feet wet! You can refine your tastes later on if you'd preder to go SXS or O/U. Sell or swap it off.

That one is for sale, or for keeps, depending on the whims of the market.

Merkel 323E .375 H&H

I have all the original papers, test target, invoices, etc.
