We have trapped and shot quite a few coyotes over the years, but never tried snaring till recently.
Set this one a week ago as a test and snagged our first. My son scouted the trail so he's pretty happy with one less fawn killer.

Wow! Very nice!! I grew up running a trapline and continued to run one all through college. We had the only apartment with furs stretched and drying on the back porch! I've never snared a Coyote, but have caught many in the reliable Victor #1.75 or #2 Coil Springs
I've only snared cotton-tails and a few snowshoe hares. I did go in to help a conservation officer check bear snares- now THAT's a nerve wracking situation. The snares are meant to only catch a leg - buess how angry a bear gets after being in one for a while-
I did find a wolf snare once, on Hudson's Bay Mountain at Smithers. There was a moose calf caught and killed in it. That was sad.
