A POSSIBLE NEW TOY!
      #128057 - 26/02/09 02:49 AM

I am waiting for pictures of a Churchill 470, side-lock, in it's original case! Once I receive the pictures I will post them (if one of my fellow members will help me) for all to see. The rifle has been offered to me and I am excited to see the pictures.

I seem to remember Ray Ordorica had good words to say about a .470 Churchill he owned for a couple of decades, don't imagine there would be too many of them floating around. He wrote an article many years ago called "Twenty years with a double .470" specifically about that rifle, no idea which US gun-mag, maybe someone else here remembers it?

Think that one was a Webley-built box-lock though, from memory.

Hello Marrakai,
I agree you do not see many, if any at all Churchill double rifles. I am quite anxious to see the photos and try and determine when it was made and so on. I will post photos when I have them for all to see.

This gun was recently for sale.
I think the ask was $32K which seemed very reasonable for what it is, seeing as how many standard big bore boxlocks are around that price nowdays.
I can't imagine a sidelock Churchill of that quality - must be unbelievable!
