Greener GP. Any idea when it was made.
      #125868 - 05/02/09 10:18 AM

I have just picked up a Greener GP Martini Action shotgun. This is the take down model in very good condition with vertually no pitting in the barrel. The metal work and wood work is in good condition. Serial number is 221X. It is NP for 2 3/4" 1 1/4 oz loads. I am looking at installing a rifled choke internally for use with cast balls and fosbury style slugs. Can anyone help me to find out when this gun was made please.

Congrats!!

According to Greener records, a GP with the serial number 221x dates to 1925. So it's one of the early ones (they started in 1922).

Unless it is a Police Gun, in which case that number would put it a few years earlier.

How about posting a picture? Or describing the stamps and markings? Does it say "GP" on the action, or "Gaffer", or "EG"? You said it was a GP, but want to make sure.

Thanks for the info. Yes is does say "Greener's GP Gun" on right side of the action and on the other is W.W. Greener, Birmingham, England. The barrel is 30". It is marked choked, but does not say what choke restriction it is. I would love to put a picture on the forum, but I have had problems doing this successfully. Once again thanks for your help.

From measuring my own Greener GP & assuming it has the same choke on it you will find it to be full choked. Mine certainly is. I like the idea of getting a choke installed, mainly to be able to use a rifled ckoke with slugs or ball, & a variety of others for shot loads &/or buckshot.
