Handi-Rifle enthusiasts?
      #12522 - 26/03/04 04:06 PM

Greetings,

Ruger really jumped started the re-awakening of the world's riflemen with the #1 and the #3. The other popular manufacturers thought he was nuts and the SS market inviable.

Mark one up for Bill.....

It seems New England Firearms has followed suit, perhaps to an even greater degree with the influx of their inexpensive SS ahdi-rifles. Good calibre selection and barrel config selection and a reputation for above average accuracy considering out-of -the-box rifles.

Of course, the triggers are pretty nasty and they are not meant for aesthetic wonder, but everyone can find one, afford one, and hit the little rings on a regular basis with it.

Any folks here shooting these little tack drivers? What cartridges are ya stuffing in the holes?

What do you like/dislike about the handi-rifles?

I've had it's dad, the H&R Topper in 30-30 for years, and a 22 hornet/20 ga combo set. These little guns will shoot as well as you can shoot.

H, don't forget the cheap-ass single action he started off business with. The gripframe wasn't fitted to the frame properly and most have become collector's items. The $50 gun is probably fetching $700 in pristine condition.

I have not personally owned one of them but I have had many of the shotguns, and several friends have the rifles, usually in a varmint caliber. Ive never really seen a bad one. One friend has one in 500S&W, talk about a THUMPER. I wonder how this would work on buff, any opinions? Thanks.
