Trout Fishing

Managed to fit in a little trout-fishing over the Christmas break....

...North Australian style!

Here's a nice one around 4 or 5 kilos:

Here's my eldest daughter Nikki with another nice specimen:

The end result:

Anyone else manage to catch a few trout during the holidays?

Congratulations, very nice fish looks like a great time and the end result makes it all worth it.

Around here most of the waters are iced up. The boat is on blocks in the marina. So for the holidays we hunted duck, goose, pheasant and quail.

Nice catch! What kind of fish are those? All of the trout streams here in Pennsylvania are long since frozen and the season is closed.

DJ:
Details of Coral Trout are here.

While these fish are mostly caught on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, I have caught them lure-casting in fast-flowing tidal gutters draining the reef flats around the Top End's offshore islands, in a scenario quite similar to angling for the more familiar Salmo trutta in a mountain stream! They hit lures like a train!
