Ive been told that the 425 express has about the same recoil as a 375 if soshould I consider getting one built on a mauser action an suggestions experiences gladly accepted

I don't know about 375H&H, I would have thought the 425 Express was nearer to a 416 Taylor re recoil. The choice of action won't have as much influence on this as the choice of barrel contour, density of stock wood & choice of furniture will have on weight & thus felt recoil. Being built on a 300 Win mag case, it would be a good choice to build a rifle for this on a standard length Mauser action IMO.

The recoil of the 425 express is stronger and nearer to a 404 Jeffery or 416 Remington Magnum, dependent from weight of the rifle!

425 Magnum Express by Westley Richards?
If so, just shot eleven shots with loads at 2200fps this weekend.
A little more recoil than the 404 with a velocity at 2300fps.
I would think the 404J is more practical over the 425WR.

I think this is the 425 based on the 300 Win Magnum case. It used to be offered by Savage on their 110 rifles a long time ago and is still offered by Heym. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Absolutely right! The 425 Express is a 300 Winch.Mag. necked up to .423 caliber.
