i want to build a double rifle and use a CZ Sidelock SG?

Hello ,
i am from germany and very interessted for double rifles..so a had the plan to build with a gunsmith a double rifle in 450NE the base should be a CZ sidelock Doubleshotgun in 12GA !is this a way to sucess!?what do you mean about my plan or have you some links or ideas for my Dream!?it is generally a way to built a double rifle out of a shotgun!?what caliber is going!?want kind of shotgun system are good to use!?Thanks for your help Tino from Germany

10 gauge -> .577 (.577 NE 2.75")
12 gauge -> .500 (50-140 sharps)
16 gauge -> .450 (45-120 sharps)
20 gauge -> .400 (405 Winchester)

No, it isn't. The way to success is to buy a good double rifle by a respected maker, and save thousands of dollars in labour, a year or two of waiting and weeks of hair-tearing grief - unless you just HAVE to do it like most that take on these projects!

Tino- I'/d go with Bonanza's suggestion on the .50 Sharps 3 1/4" rather than the long .450. The reason for this is reduced pressure with loads that will get the job done. As well, a long .50 is generally easier to find good accurate loads for than a long .45.

With a .50, you can stay beneath 36,000PSI and still get well over 2,000fps with a 520gr. bullet.

I like 50 cal too. My 50-90 conversion rifle on a MERKEL 12 gauge frame is great in all departments.

I know someone built a 450 NE on a 16 gauge CZ that has over 600 shots. They are strong.

There is a swede that did a 450 No2 in a baikal 16 gauge also.

Alternatively you can build a 50-90 on the 12 gauge as well.

Bonanza's brother built a 50-90 on a Merkel 12 gauge frame for me. The gun is truly awesome and at nearly 5,000 foot pounds of energy with 535 grainer Woodleighs over Reloder 15 powder, there is plenty of beast in the 50-90.

And Bonanza, I know you made the offer before I got the gun that IF I did not like it, you'd buy it. Sorry to inform you. I cannot ever envision me selling this gun.
