I read it and even a couple of times because it's very good and very vivid as "Hunter's choice " by Alexander Lake too.

I recommend both these books, You'll spend a good time.
I don't know why they aren't much advertised. Resnick library is not known I suppose.
In fact by mere chance I discovered these books on Amazon.

among the 10 best books I read concerning hunting in Africa.

I like this sentence " There ain't luck, there is only work".

Haven't read it for years, but I vaguely remember having issues with a number of things he says in that book.

One was to do with solids versus softs in the .303 IIRC.

I remember finishing the book thinking: "Oh well, just another author lying in print!"

Still got a copy on my book-shelf somewhere, might have to flick through it again during the Christmas beak and refresh my ailing memory...

He also wrote Hunter's Choice' which is also a good read.

That price is a bit high though. We've just put those 2 books on the connection bookshelf (amongst others) and a good used copy starts at about US$8 each.

I can't remember which book, but I'm fairly sure one of them has a most bizarre recipe for smoked haunch of hippo that entailed burying it for some weeks before smoking etc.

John,

As I remember, he got a bit ticked off at the writers of the day with all their chest beating, my heart was in my mouth and my pulse raced as I saved the PHs life sort of BS.

John also......did you get my e-mail I sent you about 10 days ago?

An interesting book but you will come away wondering about the author.
