Siace Doubles

Any info here on the Siace Doubles? They look nice and the price seems reasonable. Not much about them discussed here.

The style here seems to be to ignore the Siaces since they are not chambered for the African calibers except the 9.3. I have owned a new one in 45-70 for almost a year now, and have over 200 rounds through it. I shoot 350 gr. Hornady RN with 60 gr. of Varget at about 2,000fps. The gun is much more beautiful than the other guns in the $7k+ range, and the functional quality seems to be excellent. Look at the seller "lbf" on Gunbroker.com for some current offerings. I bought mine from Larry and could not be more pleased. Send me a PM if you would like some pictures and more information. Bob N.

Bob,
With 200 rounds through I take it that they are well regulated. Did the company supply you with the information needed for proper care and feeding (load)? The look way more expensive than they are. There is a deluxe model at a local Gander Mt. but unfortunately the price is also deluxe at $13K. I have been following the SIACEs on GB.
Thanks!

I have been hunting with one of their 20ga shotguns for the past three years; technically, it's the Dakota Superlight which is their barreled action. Very nice gun, well made and is a great english style SxS that weighs in at 5lbs-10oz. I've been looking at their DR's and would probably get one with an extra set of barrels in 20ga if they offered in it in .375 flanged. I would also prefer to get the barreled action so I could have a more traditional english style stock, theirs are a little too continental for my tastes.

My Siace came with the factory target used for regulation shooting Federal 300 gr, factory ammo. 1 1/2" group at 50 meters dead on the bullseye. I wanted to shoot a heavier bullet so I came up with a number of loads using the Hornady 350gr. round nose, and settled on the 60gr. Varget loading. I had to replace the front sight insert with a slightly higher one due to my change in loads. The Varget loading keeps the pressure at 29K psi, and as I said the penetration is awesome at 2,000fps. I was lucky to be able to re-regulate the gun with handloading as I would not consider having this gun altered. I took it elk hunting this November, and it was so fun to have in the woods, but the elk stayed safe. I have another permit that lasts through the end of January here in Colorado, and the Siace is just waiting for the right moment.

The gun is light at just over seven pounds, but for high altitude hunting I do not want a heavy gun ever. Recoil is so much fun, and it seems like a 450NE. Trigger pulls are crisp and about 5 pounds, just my guess. The wood is awesome! The engraving is reaaly nice as is the color case hardening. I handled a few doubles here in Denver before the Siace, and I absolutely love the way this gun feels. I am 5'10", 170lbs. Bob.

It is encouraging to see that you don't have to mortgage the homestead to get a nice looking and shooting double!
