NZ North Is Hunting

Hello there,

I'll be in NZ near Hamilton from 20/1/09 for six days and was wondering if anyone new of any deer hunting available near Hamilton. Nothing too strenuous as I'm getting on a bit.

I'm after Red deer.

Hi, Not a lot of free range hunting near Hamilton , some Fallow at Cambridge with a few escapey Reds now , but all Stags are in Velvet & Hinds - Does - will be with new born fawns or in fawn !
not a good time to kill any deer in my mind ! but a lot easier I,m sure !

Damn, thx for that. I know nothing about Deer but just thought it might be worth a try.

If you have transport and time you can likely travel to Taupo and connect with one of the commercial hunting guides who operate from there . Not the ideal time for hunting deer with most species having young at foot at that time but there is bound to be a few spikers or yearling hinds about - and the guides will have places to go that will give some certainty as well .

Its been a year or two since you could shoot deer on the outskirts of town here ...
