Some people hunt multiple species, including camp meat. As we discussed several times, zero range is a personal choice, and really doesn't make much difference. If one is willing to practice and is able to shoot the gun, the zero distance (within reason) is immaterial. The important elements are practice and knowledge of the gun.

For example, the 458 Win Mag with 500 gr Hornady RN at 2100 fps zeroed at 25 yards is one inch high at 50, one inch high at 100, and essentially zero again at 125 yards. If zeroed at 50 yards, it is about an inch low at 100, and maybe two inches low at 125. Either will work, provided one knows his gun.

Take care, Tom
