Does anybody know of any company that manufactures
a 10 gauge side X side shotgun ?

Hi Alan, Zabala in Spain make the Model 213 in 10 bore, very basic boxlock. My gun friend has a 10 bore side by side AYA No.1 still in the white waiting for a buyer, obviously this is a custom gun and a beautiful sidelock when it is finished but the price will be an AYA No.1 price i.e. circa GBP £9500, best, Mike

The AYA's run the gamut from cheap to very expensive. I had one of the cheap 'Matadors'(I think it was) - what a wonderful goose gun too 96% and 94& left and right - then along came iron shot & I sold it for pitance.

There is a Purdey and a Greener at the upcoming Julia Auction. The Purdey has a high estimate but the Greener isn't too bad. Probably some US stuff in the auction also but I didn't take notice.
There are always quite a few 10 gauge Parkers for sale on the net at any given time. Does he want something new or vintage? Steel or damascus?
I picked up a Westley Richards 10 gauge last year on gunbroker for a song.
Found quite a few that didn't interest me when I was looking for mine. If you can give me a better idea of what he wants I may be able to steer him in the right direction.

Josh thanks for the reply.
My mate spends a lot of time working in one of the central African nations doing field work and wants the 10 gauge shotgun as a follow up or backup gun.
What he is looking for is a reliable SxS ,10gauge shotgun,with double triggers.
Once he aquires one it will be shortened to 24 inch barrels and a basic set of sights fitted
The cartrige he will be using will be the 3 1/2 loaded with OO buck shot.(18 pellets)

There was a 10 bore parker at Hefley Creek Rendezvous in August - outside hammers, 2 7/8" chambers - nice gun in reasonable shape for $600.00. The only thing we can shoot with a 10 bore here now with lead shot is grouse - bit overkill for me when a .22RF does just fine.

I've never imported firearms from Canada and am wondering iff it is any easier than the US.
Are there any auction sites in Canada dealing with firearms?

Gosh, Alan - can't help there. I've not heard of any auctions here, but of course, the fall season (or is it spring) usually has a gun show or two in the Province where there are some reasonable deals at time.

I should have bought that Parker.

I just bid on an old 10 gauge that is supposedly Belgium made. External hammers. I won the bidding but did not meet the owners minimum $ amount so we will see if he wants to haggle. It is an ACME (the maker).

It is quite an old gun, and I hope if I do get it that my gunsmith can get the looseness out of her and make her able to shoot a medium load at least.

there was a company here in the states called American Arms. i have their year 2000 catalog from when i bought their Spanish made SxS 10ga. turkey shotgun. it has 26" barrels with screw in choke tubes. they had all the chokes from cyl. to Xfull available. it is a single trigger gun though.

Alan - try looking through www.tradeexcanada.com and see what you find. I know they won't ship to the US, but another Commonwealth country, I don't know? I've bought a couple guns from them and Anthony is easy to deal with. There are some 10 bore doubles I'm sure. Check both antiques and shotguns as well as some of the other links.

There was another site, www.tradexcanada.com but I didn't look around in it. Might be a nasty site as the url is so close to the real www . trade ex canada . com site.

Kassnar made 10 gauge side by sides. Does anyone have any recommendations about Kassnar 10 ga sxs's?

I had a Spanish made Zabala 10 gauge side by side that was a brute. Sold it a while ago.

Anyone else in the US have any 10 gauge side by sides?

MIke, what is he asking for the AYA's?

I had one, Matador, I think, until the lead shot ban came out. It was bored exceptionally tight and I couldn't use factory ammo as the pressure was too high, some blowing the base wad out with the shot charge. At 9 pounds, it still booted with factory. I loaded for it, and ground out the chokes a bit as they were too tight. I got it shooting 2oz. #2's lead into 94% and 96%, right and left as well as 93% with 2oz. lead #5's for ducks. it was a murdering mathcine out to about 65yards on ducks and 80 on geese. Factory ammo shot 56% patterns - useless for anything past 45 yards.

Daryl, from memory the prices went from £450 to £900, the last being mint. Current $£ rate is about 1.42 I think, dunno on C$, best, Mike

Aren't there any lower cost 10 gauge side by sides out there?

I know for a while they were NOT desireable guns at all.

He has a non ejector Zabala for £300ish, a working but solid gun, for abbout £300 you aren't going to get much better INMHO, best, Mike
