Does anyone know if "Remington 40-X bore cleaner" is the same stuff as the old "Gold Medallion", later marketed as "RemClean/Remington bore clean" or something like that?
I have asked Remington, but they say they can't compare the 2 products and can't release the formula. I don't want the formula and gold medallion isn't available anymore. My understanding is that gold medallion or the rights to it were bought by remington and the product was sold as RemClean, which itself is no longer available...
I use to use Gold Medallion back in the 1980's, it was good stuff. As for the Remington Bore Cleaner, I've heard that it is the same stuff. But Remington's other products, like Brite Bore and Remoil, are not related to it. I would like to try it myself.
I have since tried the Montana X-treme copper cream and found it very effective. Less abrasive than the Gold Medallion but perhaps the better for it. Patch-out (liquid version of wipe-out foam) is also very effective and easy to use....
