i will be the first to tell you i dont know about double rounds all my info is from here or the few books that carry it.or the info from the net and this forum.so i ask is hornadays ammo to hot for this double.400

Hornady's .450/.400 3" NE factory ammunition was developed and pressure tested in a CIP spec barrel. It is CIP compliant. Heym regulates their new .450/.400s with Hornady ammo. IIRC, your .400 is a new European built O/U. There should be no issue at all with using Hornady ammo in it.

i just am a novice all i saw was the numbers and i still dont know what they mean i know saami is used here and cip is international but that is all i can tell you about the two.

Worth clearing up. Metallic cartridges are standardized (dimensions, max pressures, etc.) here by SAAMI. In Britain and Europe, it's done by CIP. None of the flanged nitro double rifle cartridges specifically intended for use in double rifles have been standardized by SAAMI (.470 was, but that data is out of date), as they're not American cartridges and have not been loaded here until very recently. They are all standardized by CIP only. Some American cartridges have also been standardized by CIP, such as .45/70.

CIP pressure standards for flanged double rifle rounds can be found here: http://www.intermin.fi/intermin/images.n...+II+haku+02.pdf

CIP Dimensional standards can be found here: http://www.intermin.fi/intermin/images.nsf/files/B0E765375DA00143C2256FBE0032DD2A/$file/TABIIcal.pdf

Sorry it has taken so long to give any feedback on this rifle. i finally had a chance to shoot it today. I shot open sights at 50 yards using Hornady 325gr Levereolution ammo. Out of the box the gun is fairly well regulated, 4 shot were in a 2" group 6" directly above the bullseye. The recoil felt sharper than my other 45/70 rifle but still wasn't bad. It felt a little worse than the 458 Win mag I was shooting today, but probably in part to my shoulder being a little tender. Overall I am more than happy with it.

Remington currently only makes this SPR22 Double in 30.06 and 45-70.

I would like to purchase one in 30-30 if they ever made it--that would be a fun gun!!

Anyone similarly inclined may also wish to contact remington about their wishes!!

Congratulations on your new double rifles! Nice sheep as well. You got a start now, but I assure you those two will not be the last double rifles you will own. Welcome to the Double Rifle Shooter's Society!

What part of Texas do you live? the reason I ask is, I have several double rifles you might be interested in shooting. I live south of Fort Worth! Send me a PM maybe we can meet at one of the ranges, and shoot some double rifles!
