This is the slowest moving site I've ever seen. If it wasn't for the quality of the site, I'd bag it in a minute, How could we get a some more members, or get the existing members to post more often? I'm sure glad hunting season starts Saturday!!!!

Sometimes it seems as if nothing is happening on NE, being retired I check several times a day. If anyone ever needs a reminder about the quality of NE just check some of the dross that's posted on You Tube.

I agree 100% with last 2 posts. The quality of this site is an educational experience - (& I can have a few letter after my name if required.)

Seems to load pretty fast for me but I have DSL. Have you cleaned out the cache, defragged the disk or maybe compressed some files to speed things up ....

The easiest way to big a big bad site is to encourage arguments.
Look at "fight" threads here and especially elsewhere. Always have a multiple of ten or twenty of views and posts to more constructive threads.
One 'big' forum built itself on trolls who 'dropped in' whenever the posting activity slowed down. Strange coincidence that was, hey!?
Personally I would love to see more of our members posting their hunting stories and photos which are always enjoyable.
Most of the regular members here are vintage rifle and double rifle enthusiasts and many of them have incredible knowledge and share it here. Thanks to these members.
However, ladies and gentlemen, when someone posts a story or interesting comments on their rifle/gun/whatever, JOIN IN. The site is free, but contributors get their kicks from the responses and following discussions. A small 'payment' for the story, photos.

John I reall don't think you want me to post any pictures of my prairie dog hunting. Have you ever seen what a 270 gr bullet out of a .375 H&H does to a 3 pound critter. It is a bit gory. But in answer to your question before you ask. It is a whole lot of fun.

Yes, we need a bit more snooty discussion about rifles I can't afford. Talk about Remington/Baikal doubles and red-neck rantings about Barak Obama are lowering the tone. On the other hand, Ripp, Mickey Mouse does have big ears.

Well I've been on NE for years and it's still one of the best forum around.
If you want lots of activity - AND no end of arguments, sniping and "Post counting", go to AR.
And if and when we do have heated disagreements on NE, it all blows over and everyone seems to get back together unlike some forums where grudges seem to be held for years.
I prefer less posts of quality and a heap of rubbish anyday.
Keep up the good work John

Paul
Topics on NE that get discussions going include the merits of Blaser double rifles including the bolt action model - hopefully I will be able to post some photos soon of one if they are still available - the Fuchs double rifle, the Baikal double rifle, the merits of the .45/70 as a true dangerous game rifle, Mark Sullivan, and ....
More obscure ones over time have included what solder is suitable for DR barrels and ....
Enjoy, have fun and when debates get heated, forget about them afterwards.

OBama is a legitimate topic.
And as far as redneck rantings, If directed at me?? So sorry if I am not a refined writer--
Hint, In my country and among my friends-
You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and why you believe it. You aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening and how sophisticated they may be.
You might be a redneck if: You stand and with respect place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem. Our Creator, the Constitutions principles and Founding Fathers efforts merit that respect.
You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have. You give thanks who gave their lives to give us our freedoms.
You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to.
You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God.'
You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.
You might be a redneck if: You still say ' Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'
You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places in a country founded on Judeo Christian principles.
You might be a redneck if: You try to assist others in need becuase someone assisted you when you were in need.
You might be a redneck if: You want to make this world a better place for your children to live in.
If this suggests I am a redneck then I am privileged by such a name.
God Bless the USA!

My comment about "when we do have heated disagreements on NE," was directed at MYSELF when I take issue with something or someone, no one else.
I like your Redneck descritions. Too many Soft Cock, Latte sipping, do nothing do good poofters in this world.

Anyone here have a early mid-1860's conical mould for a Purdey breech loading 20b rifle?

Cheers!

Hell I think I am a Redneck too then.
But I have been called both a redneck and a latte drinking pansy. A Zionist and a Jew-hater. A racist and a non-racist. A religist extremist and an atheist. A communist and a fascist. A nationalistic patriot and a traitor to my country. An expert and a keyboard expert. Probably everything in between.
Personally I think I am a individual.

Sorry guys, I was only 'stirring the possum' as we say around here. We are all rednecks up to a point: when Little Johnny was bending the barrels in Oz, I got a bit hot under the collar myself.
Strangely, we don't even have a bill of rights in this country - unless protestants can claim one under law that came out of the Glorious Revolution in England in 1688. Shooters generally are wary of even getting one, 'cause if we did the first clause would probably be:
Citizens and wildlife shall not be tormented by firearms.
Cheers - Paul
