Now, after the SCi convention in Reno. The safari market come to Europe and starts here, in Spain. This weekend there're two conventions, one for Safari trades and other for guns. Yesterday I went to the first one and I booked my safari for this year. It'll be in October, in the Selous, and will be my fourth 21 days safari but I'll stay for 30 days if I can't get a elephant.
For those who doesn't know, a 21 days safari in Tanzania includes:
1 Ostrich 1 Hiena 2 Baboon 1 Hipo 3 Buffalo (and 3 more for meat) 2 Impala 1 Bushbuck 1 Klipspringer 1 Bushpig 1 Greater Kudu 2 Zebra 1 Jackal 1 Lion 1 Civet cat 1 Leopard 1 Crocodile 2 Nyasa Wildebeest 1 Common Duiker 1 Red Duiker 1 Eland 2 Reedbuck 1 Elephant 2 Warthog 1 Sable 1 Steenbuck 1 Waterbuck 2 Hartebeest Liechtenstein
I think I'll have enough to enjoy a little

470 my friend
Such a distinguished gentleman as you should have a good gun bearer. I work cheap, like any good gunbearer for meat.
As long as I can shoot it for myself.
You look like you are going to have fun. Can't wait to hear of your exploits.
Thanks for the pictures.

Caramba! Those heads get my blood flowing! -Are the meat buffalo cows only? -Can you please identify the ibex? The full mount looks like a bezoar ibex from Iran but where do the shoulder mounts come from (mongolia?) -the stag WOW, that isn't Spanish is it???? Maybe Russia/Austria?

Those are nice pics. Wouldn't it be nice to have a trophy room as big as that hall?

470nitro,
I will be in the Selous in OCT as well my trip starts in SEP in RSA and runs into OCT in the Selous so I will be there at the first of the month. Sounds like you have a good hunt coming good luck with it, Maybe we will bump into each other at a airport or hotel.
Some nice pictures I guess they lug those hummers to every show in every country. One of the worse vehicles I have ever owned the H2 hummer and the H1s were so nice go figure.

This time the observer is free, so I'm gonna share the license (I already have all those animals) and the daily rate will be only 500$ in a 2x1. This time I can't take you there, may be next time

No, I use to shoot 6 bulls and I choose the best 3 skulls. That's why the PH is the company owner and a great friend of mine

This one is from Hungary. It's the biggest hunted last year in whole Europe. The shoulder mount Ibex is from Austria or Macedonia (I'm not sure )

Probably I'll arrive to Dar on Oct. 18th and I'll stay hunting just in the Rufiji River (North side). Will be nice to meet you there, in front of a couple of beers
Tomorrow morning I'll go to the other convention, I'll post more pics

I wish!
One day I will get to Tanzania again, but this time with something with two barrels. If only for a short buffalo hunt.
PS That's a great daily rate!

Some nice Taxidermy there. The lion/Buff scene looks rough, very hard to get those things right IMO.

Hi, I'm really very glad they warned anyone that the boar was not made to be petted! The guns are works of art, really. What was the price tag on the holland double?

470Nitro,
You are one lucky person to go on your 4th, 21 day safari. You must have a huge trophy room. May I ask why Europeans have there animals mounted as skull mounts (European mounts)? I always thought the shoulder and full body mounts were nicer to look at then a skull.
That ibex, the one scratching his nose, is a very nice looking animal. The pig looks great as well. I never thought to have a pig done full body. Looks nice though. Sevens

I think the answer is something about the way of hunt. Usually, American hunters likes to hunt one of each specie and they spend a lot of time with this animal. For example, is common to hunt "only" a white tail in a year.
Europeans usually prefer to hunt more animal in one year, we've some "don't-know-why" preferences (boars, buffalos, roe deers) and hunter use to take several of them each years. About me, I've hunted more than 100 roe deers and I'm only 33 years old. I think there are no trophie room enough big to store all those trophies, if shoulder mounts in a future, but I can put all of them together in skull mounts. Anyway almost my african and american trophies are full or shoulder mounted.

Skull or skull-cap mounts on a carved wooden shield are quite nice.

How does the licensing system work in Europe? I always wished I grew up in Africa for the sure joy of being able to shoot so many varied heads of game. I hate being limited to one deer and elk a year and that's if I get lucky enough to draw the tags. I can see the advantage to skull mounts when you have so many of the same species. Sure wish I had over 100 deer under my belt. Sevens

Almost hunts in Europe (at least West Europe) are in private areas, so you can hunt all you can pay. You can move along the countries hunting deers, there're no license system like USA have
