Does anyone has loaded the .470 with the H870 powder? Any experience would be appreciated.

I use H870 in large, bottle-necked, magnum cartridges. It work's very well. I doubt it will do so well in a straight-sided (or nearly so) case like the 470 NE. It is hard to ignite and needs the bottle neck to ensure combustion.

FWIW, I tried Retumbo in the .450/.400 3 1/4" with some success. Haven't tried 870 though.

The theory is to use a full case of slow powder, etc. for low pressure regulating load.

Don't really remember all my results, but I had no trouble lighting it off.
